Born in Russia, Marina Shipova is the artist of the generation that emerged in the influence of Marc Chagall and Ilya Glazunov.  Her career in illustration grew from her childhood interest in art and an active imagination. Shipova continued her art education at  Vladimir State University in the late 1980s. There, she absorbed an acute attention to form associated with classical techniques, subsequently refining her own visual and conceptual world that emerged through her focus on the points of intersection between painting, design, and computer graphics.


Ms. Shipova relocated from Russia to the US in 2001 and soon after began teaching graphic design at Peninsula College. She has also established herself as a freelance artist and illustrator of book covers. Her work has been published in magazines, her illustrations have been used on a wide variety of products, her art can also can be found in local galleries and private collections in the United States, Europe and Russia and has been seen in numerous exhibitions. Marina Shipova is currently living and working in Sequim, Washington, USA.
